Abstract Social networks and semantic web has become more widespread these days. Lots of information has been exchanged between different people daily. The most important issue is the exchange of information between users is trust to the sources and to different users and there is no direct trust because of the vastness of the web in most cases and trust must be predicted in different ways. Extensive researches about trust predicting in social networks, online networks and semantic web has been done in recent years. In this article, we use trust mirroring to predict trust which estimates the amount of trust based on the similarity amount between trustor and trustee. In this article, we use parameters as degree, degree quality and local density in social networks to determine the similarity criteria and we offer fuzzy systems to calculate the amount of similarity for each of these parameters. Then we estimate the amount of trust considering the amount of trustor reputation and amount of similarity. The proposed method provides an acceptable estimation for trust based on the experimental results in the social networks. Keywords Trust mirroring · Semantic web · Fuzzy system · Social network

1 Introduction A social network is a group of people, organizations or other social entities that are connected to each other using a series of social relations like friendship, partnership or information interchange. Web is a sample of social networks. Social networks form by web pages connecting together. Web can be considered as a graph that web pages are its nodes and hyperlinks are its edges. While WebPages may look like multimedia files in concepts, a hyperlink is usually a clear sign that a web author believes in another page being related to it [12]. There are various ways through which social network can automatically be directed to the web. Users are connected to each other via transactions in online auctions and electronic markets. Semantic web as information space that is designed with the aim of being useful not only for human–human relationship, but also to make relations that machines have the ability to participate and contribute. The user must choose authoritative information based on the information he recognize is reliable. The problem is deeper when we introduce web services. Because users are forced to scrimmage a new set of requirements to rely on web services and also the web services requires automated methods to trust each other. Trust is a central part of the semantic web. In all categories of sem
