Hypokalaemia: case report In a case series of 11 patients with idiopathic full-thickness macular holes that were closed at the University of Chicago from 2017 to 2019, a patient [age and sex not stated] was described, who developed hypokalaemia during treatment with acetazolamide for intraocular pressure (IOP) elevation. The patient with idiopathic full-thickness macular hole, started receiving drop regimen with ketorolac. Subsequently, the patient developed elevated IOP associated with unspecified corticosteroid, which was treated with oral acetazolamide [dosage not stated]. However, the treatment with acetazolamide was associated with hypokalemia [duration of treatment to reaction onset not stated]. Therefore, the patient’s treatment with acetazolamide was discontinued, and hypokalemia had resolved. MacKin A, et al.
