Alcohol intoxication: case report In a single-center, retrospective, cohort study of 74 infertile woman with endometriosis conducted between May 2013 to May 2017, one adult woman [exact age not stated] was described, who developed alcohol intoxication following treatment with alcohol for endometrioma. The infertile woman who had endometrioma underwent standardised sclerotherapy procedure under unspecified general anaesthesia. She received systemic cefazolin as an antibiotic prophylaxis. The intervention was performed in the lithotomic position. Then, the endometrioma was transvaginally punctured under ultrasound guidance using a single lumen needle. The cyst content was completely aspirated and flushed with sodium-chloride [Saline] solution. Then, intracystic 96% alcohol [Ethanol] was injected at 60% of the initial volume of the endometrioma [dosage not stated]. Alcohol remained in the cyst for 10 minutes and was then completely reaspirated. However, she presented with Clavien and Dindo classification grade I intravascular alcohol diffusion (alcohol intoxication). Blood alcohol concentration was positive at 0.22 g/L without other consequences [outcome not stated]. Miquel L, et al.
