Drug dependence: 2 case reports In a case report, a 35-year-old man and a male patient [age not stated] were described, who developed drug dependence secondary to abuse of anacyclus pyrethrum/crocus/mercury/myristica fragrans/opium/piper betle/piper longum/santalum album/ sulphur/syzygium aromaticum/zingiber officiales. Additionally, the 35-year-old man abused the drug at an overdose [not all outcomes stated; routes not stated]. The 35-year-old man started abusing anacyclus pyrethrum/crocus/mercury/myristica fragrans/opium/piper betle/piper longum/ santalum album/sulphur/syzygium aromaticum/zingiber officiales [Kamini Vidrawan Ras] for hay fever symptoms in 2010. The treatment resulted in improvement of his symptoms and increased alertness; however, he was noted to be drowsy during the initial assessment. He had been receiving one tablet/week initially, which rapidly increased to 25–30 tablets/day (one bottle). He reported using one bottle/week in the beginning; however, a change of brand to experience the same effect led to an increase in the amount of drug used. Hence, he developed drug dependence secondary to abuse of anacyclus pyrethrum/crocus/mercury/myristica fragrans/opium/piper betle/piper longum/santalum album/sulphur/syzygium aromaticum/zingiber officiales. Further, he denied use of alcohol, prescription medicines or other illicit substances. He was treated with buprenorphine and naloxone combination resulting in stabilisation of his condition. The male patient developed drug dependence secondary to abuse of anacyclus pyrethrum/crocus/mercury/myristica fragrans/ opium/piper betle/piper longum/santalum album/sulphur/syzygium aromaticum/zingiber officiales [Kamini Vidrawan Ras].
