Abstract In order to explore the impact of pile sinking on surrounding buildings in existing high-rise buildings, in this study, the influence of pile foundation settlement on surrounding buildings of existing high-rise buildings is studied and analyzed by building models. Firstly, the theory of pile-soil interaction is introduced. The theoretical calculation of pile foundation settlement is simplified by existing theory and practical engineering calculation, and the settlement value of surrounding buildings is calculated. Then, the simulated experimental area model is established. Finally, the influence of pile foundation settlement on the surrounding buildings with and without raft in foundation is explored. The results show that under the condition of pile diameter and other conditions being the same, with the increase of pile length, the pile foundation settlement of existing high-rise buildings has less and less influence on the surrounding buildings. When the pile length increases to 22 m, the pile foundation settlement of existing high-rise buildings has little impact on the surrounding buildings; at the same time, under the same pile length, the settlement of pile foundation of existing high-rise buildings without raft has less influence on the surrounding buildings than that of pile foundation with raft. This study is of guiding significance to the construction of buildings around high-rise buildings in China. Keywords High-rise buildings . Pile foundation settlement . Pile group settlement . Settlement of single pile . The surrounding buildings

Introduction With the accelerated development of urbanization in China, the scale of urbanization has been rapidly expanded, but the urban building land is very limited. In order to improve the city’s occupancy rate, on the one hand, the city needs to expand to the outside; on the other hand, it also needs to improve the utilization rate of urban building land. Therefore, high-rise buildings, three-dimensional traffic, three-dimensional urban pipelines, and other buildings are born, which can greatly improve the utilization rate of urban land (Liu et al. 2019). The premise to improve the land use efficiency by building high-rise and multi-storey buildings is to have strong stability and bearing capacity. Because natural soil cannot meet such This article is part of the Topical Collection on Geological Modeling and Geospatial Data Analysis * Manxia Wu [email protected] 1

high standards, people use pile foundation as the foundation of high-rise buildings. Pile foundation has also been widely used in the construction industry due to its good stability, good seismic performance, and strong bearing capacity (Shakeel and Ng 2018; Malhotra et al. 2019). However, the pile founda
