Fatal cortical venous thrombosis: case report A 21-year-old woman started chemotherapy according to the BFM-86 protocol for acute lymphoblastic leukaemia. She received three doses of asparaginase [dosage and route not stated], daunorubicin and vincristine. She reported a headache 4 days after the third dose of asparaginase. Seizures developed 3 days later, but she stabilised with antiepileptics. A brain MRI suggested cortical venous thrombosis. This diagnosis was confirmed by a magnetic resonance venogram, which showed lack of opacification of her left transverse sinus. Nadroparin calcium was administered, but her neurological status progressively deteriorated and she died 11 days later despite all efforts. Cyriac S, et al.
