Rhabdomyolysis: case report A 44-year-old man developed rhabdomyolysis during treatment with atorvastatin and sildenafil [routes not stated]. The man had been receiving atorvastatin 10mg for four years for hypercholesterolemia. He presented with severe and unexplained muscle aches, particularly in the lower part of his legs and feet. He started receiving sildenafil 100 mg/day [indication not stated] on his own three days prior to the development of symptoms. Two days after the presentation, he was hospitalised. The man was treated with captopril and metformin. His creatine phosphokinase level was highly elevated at 95569 U/L. Atorvastatin was withdrawn. He received symptomatic treatment. Within 13 days, his creatine phosphokinase level improved to 357 U/L. At follow-up, he recovered completely. Ben Salem C, et al. Atorvastatin and sildenafil interaction-induced rhabdomyolysis.
