Mycobacterial adenitis at vaccine injection-site: case report A 7-month-old boy developed Mycobacterial adenitis at vaccine injection-site following vaccination with BCG vaccine [route, dosage and time to reactions onset not stated]. The boy developed Mycobacterial adenitis at the injection-site of the BCG vaccine at age of 7 months. His histological study was in favour of tuberculosis. The boy was treated with unspecified antituberculars. After 6 months of treatment, his Mycobacterial adenitis was completely cured. Thereafter, he started suffering from recurrent episodes of chronic nail candidiasis and oral thrush since the age of 8 months. He also had atypical rosacea. He was also hospitalised multiple times due to disabling herpetic gingivostomatitis. After further investigations, he was diagnosed with chronic mucocutaneous candidiasis. He was started on treatment with systemic fluconazole, which was ineffective after 2 months. Antifungogram demonstrated resistance of the isolated Candida albicans strain to fluconazole due to heterozygous gain-of-function mutation of STAT1. His treatment was changed to voriconazole with disease control. Baghad B, et al.
