Drug toxicity: 3 case reports In a retrospective study of 5646 patients, treated between January 2001 and December 2010 in Australia, 3 patients [ages and sexes not stated] were described, who died following drug toxicity while receiving methadone, buprenorphine or naltrexone. The three patients with an opioid use disorder received treatment with methadone, buprenorphine or implant naltrexone [dosages not stated; not all routes stated]. Subsequently, all 3 patients died due to drug toxicity. Postmortem toxicological analysis was performed. Death was attributed to accidental methadone toxicity in one patient after Coroner’s determination. After liver analysis, the death was attributed to buprenorphine toxicity in one patient and naltrexone toxicity in one patient [duration of treatments to reactions onsets not stated]. Kelty E, et al.
