Bupropion First report of spontaneous ejaculation: case report
A 39-year-old man developed spontaneous ejaculation during treatment with bupropion for dysthymia. The unmarried man presented with spontaneous ejaculations during treatment with bupropion 300 mg/day [route not stated]. He had a dysthymia and received bupropion 150 mg/day. Two weeks following initiation, the dose was increased to 300 mg/day. Within 2 weeks of increased medication, he developed an intense feeling to ejaculate every day, mostly after the micturition. Most of the time he controlled the urges, but he failed at many instances and ejaculated. There was no association of salient erections or sexual arousal with the ejaculations. Before treatment, he had no history of sexual problems except sexual aversion. There was no medication or past psychiatric history or any prior significant sexual history. The man’s treatment with bupropion was stopped. On a follow-up after 1 week, his condition improved and no recurrence was noted. Uvais NA, et al. Bupropion-Induced Spontaneous Ejaculations. Editorial comment: A search of AdisBase, Medline, Embase and the WHO ADR database did not reveal any previous case reports of spontaneous ejaculations associated with bupropion.
