CAM Modalities Definition NCCAM includes five different modalities in its categorization of Complementary and Alternative Medicines (CAM), which include (1) alternative medical systems, (2) mindbody interventions, (3) biologically-based treatments, (4) manipulative and bodybased methods, and (5) energy therapies. Alternative classifications of CAM modalities also exist.
