Radiation recall dermatitis: case report A 50-year-old woman developed radiation recall dermatitis during treatment with carboplatin, docetaxel and trastuzumab [routes and dosages not stated; time to reactions onsets not clearly stated]. The woman, who had a local recurrence of metastatic left breast cancer, started receiving radiation therapy. She had undergone mastectomy of the right breast. During the radiotherapy, she also received systemic treatment with trastuzumab [Herceptin]. She developed grade 1 erythema following fifteen radiation therapies. However, radiation therapy showed good response to left breast cancer. After 10 days from the completion of radiotherapy, she started receiving chemotherapy with carboplatin [carboplatinum], trastuzumab and docetaxel for metastatic disease. She was hospitalised after 20 days with radiation recall dermatitis over the treated radiation fields on the left chest wall. The woman received unspecified narcotics and intensive burn care. After 20 days, her dermatitis completely resolved. During these 20 days, her treatment with carboplatin, trastuzumab and docetaxel were temporarily discontinued. After 4 years, she did not have signs of local recurrence of the irradiated tumour in the treatment area. Ben-David MA, et al.
