China and India are the world’s two oldest medical civilizations. One of the unique features of this book is comparison of medicinal approaches between China and India. The journey of this book began 13 years ago when I started my Ph.D. at the University of Hong Kong. Since then I have completed three projects and included data from all these projects in this book. The first project was my Ph.D. thesis titled “Repackaging ayurveda in post colonial India: Revivalism and global commodification” (2003–2008) undertaken at the University of Hong Kong where I received a postgraduate studentship/scholarship. The next project titled “Globalization and wellness health tourism in China: Paradigm, prospect and challenges” (2010–2012) was carried out after I joined as a faculty in the United International College, Beijing Normal University–Hong Kong Baptist University. The latest project titled “The business of Chinese medicine today: Commodification and paradigm” (2011– 2014) was also pursued during my
