Cidofovir Skin irritation and labial erosion following topical administration in children: 2 case reports Two girls aged 6 and 12 years were identified from a retrospective study after they developed either local skin irritation or labial erosion during treatment with topical 3% cidofovir applied twice daily. The 6-year-old girl, who had warts in the perianal area, developed local irritation after 1 week’s treatment with cidofovir. The 12-year-old girl, who had warts on her hands, periungual region and lip, developed superficial erosions on lesions of her lower labial mucosa after 10 weeks’ treatment with cidofovir. In both cases, cidofovir was discontinued, and a few days later, the warts and the irritation had disappeared. Fernandez-Morano T, et al. Topical cidofovir for viral warts in children.
