Cisplatin/vinorelbine Radiation recall dermatitis: case report A 59-year-old Chinese woman developed radiation recall dermatitis following chemotherapy with cisplatin and vinorelbine for lung cancer. On 29 April 2006, the woman commenced a course of systemic chemotherapy with 40 mg of cisplatin (25 mg/m2) on days 1–3 and 40 mg of vinorelbine (25 mg/m2) on days 1 and 8; an identical course of chemotherapy was commenced on 22 May 2006. She underwent 3D conformal radiotherapy on 1 June 2006 at a total dose of 65 Gy in 25 fractions. After 16 fractions, she developed mild erythema with some moist desquamation over the left supraclavicular irradiated field. The reaction remitted after administration of biafine and chloramphenicol/ dexamethasone. On 13 July 2006, her skin reaction had almost resolved and she began a third course of chemotherapy with cisplatin and vinorelbine, in the same regimen. She presented on 4 August 2006 with severe itching over the irradiated areas of the left supraclavicular area and the prothorax. The skin was red and swollen, with extensive erythema covering the irradiated area. The woman’s symptoms were relieved by oral loratadine and local administration of chloramphenicol/ dexamethasone for 1 week, and had completely resolved after 3 weeks. She died of respiratory failure on 8 October 2006. Zhu Z-F, et al. Radiation recall with vinorelbine and cisplatin. Onkologie 33: 107-109, No. 3, Mar 2010.
