Abstract
Advances in bioastronautics encompassing the study and support of life in space have applications that enhance health on Earth. Clinical benefits of bioastronautics include new knowledge, approaches, and technologies for screening, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of disease. The benefits are far-reaching and positively impact healthcare delivery from top-tier medical centers to rural communities to harsh remote environments with restricted access to medical care.

Introduction There is a rich history of how human and robotic space exploration favorably impacts our lives on Earth in tangible and intangible ways. New discoveries and capabilities inform us about our planet and ourselves, save lives, improve products, and educate and inspire the next generation. NASA has catalogued space technologies that benefit life on Earth in the form of commercial products (https://spinoff.nasa.gov). Nearly 2,000 spin-offs are highlighted by the agency in areas of health and medicine, transportation, public safety, consumer goods, energy and environment, information technology, and industrial productivity (NASA Spinoff Database 1976–2018). Terrestrial health and medicine applications arise from a subset of these NASA spin-offs, but more broadly clinical benefits are the result of
