Preface
During ward rounds (yes, we still have them for training our postgraduates) one day, I was upset that a particular case was not diagnosed in a certain way. After the rounds one of my bright colleagues came and told me that there is no point getting upset as not everybody can think the way I do. The assumption here I think was that clinical thinking is genetically endowed, a position I was not willing to accept. To prove clinical thinking and diagnostic skills in Ophthalmology can be inculcated; I looked for a resource I could direct my students to so that they can learn from it. I could not find any single source to direct them to, yet, all what I practice and know were sourced from the writings of other authors in various books or articles. It is very unlikely that the ideas in this book are my own; it is more likely that these are reflections of the ‘Ha ha’ moments I have had when reading other authors or listening to people speak.
