PREFACE
This volume consists of papers presented at the XIII Rolf Nevanlinna - Colloquium held at the University of Joensuu, August 10-13, 1987. The program of the Colloquium concentrated on complex analysis. A substantial part of the program was devoted to the scientific work of Professor Lars V. Ahlfors to celebrate his 80th birthday. This volume is dedicated to Lars Ahlfors, by the consent with all authors. We wish to thank the staff of the Department of Mathematics in the University of Joensuu for their co-operation in preparing this volume. Our special thanks are due to Eero Posti and Harri Pekonen for their patient job of processing the manuscripts. Eero Posti also provided a great help for us by mastering all details of the text processing systems used to prepare these Proceedings.
