Research on issues relating to women with epilepsy has expanded tremendously in the last two decades. Knowledge gained from the research has led to guidelines in the care of women with epilepsy. Major general neurology and epilepsy conferences consistently highlight topics regarding women with epilepsy. Yet, the care of each woman with epilepsy often requires more than knowledge and data. Clinical judgment that is evidence-supported is required to enable the selection and development of therapeutic strategies that may be suitable for each woman with epilepsy. The science of medicine based on data is often imperfect and insufficient to command a single therapeutic approach to a clinical scenario. This is where the art of medicine should come in—where the eye of the mind could critically appreciate the distinction and the overlap between therapeutic options that are reasonably viable for a specific clinical situation.
