Correction to: Environmental Science and Pollution Research https://doi.org/10.1007/s11356-020-11669-0 The correct 2nd sentence of the Abstract is "However, extant studies have not conclusively indicated that R&D activities in all environmental fields lead to a reduction in the SO 2 intensity". The correct 5nd-8nd row of the third column in Table 1 is"(Ratio of tertiary sector added value to GDP in logarithm; Ratio of coal in energy consumption in logarithm; Ratio of FDI to the total fixed asset investment in logarithm; Ratio of export divided by GDP in logarithm)".
