Hypothermia and bradycardia?: 2 case reports Two patients aged 13 and 16 years [sexes not stated] received IV pulse methylprednisolone 1g/1.73m2 for three days, followed by prednisolone and cyclophosphamide 2 mg/kg/day [route not stated], for Wegener’s granulomatosis. During the first weeks of treatment, both developed hypothermia and sinus bradycardia [duration of therapy to reaction onset not stated]. One patient experienced no symptoms and recovered spontaneously after 4 weeks; the other developed generalised seizures, but also recovered without intervention. Author comment: "We have not been able to explain these conspicuous findings. . . [U]nexplained, self-limiting, prolonged hypothermia and bradycardia can occur during the first weeks of treatment of Wegener’s granulomatosis." Geerdink LM, et al.
