Preface
As both a clinical psychologist and a clinical ethicist, I have been fascinated with the topic of dementia and the topic of advance directives. The lenses I peer through in the writing of this book, in bringing these topics together, are in nature both philosophical (and ethics based) and psychological, bridging both my professional and academic careers. This book is based upon a composite of multiple ethics cases over many years in a variety of settings and reflects my almost twenty-years practice in the role of medical ethicist as well as theories of ethics important to the presentation of the cases.
