Dependency Ratio Definition The Dependency Ratio is the average number of economically dependant people (number of people under 15 years of age plus number of people over 65 years of age) per 100 economically productive people (population between 15 and 64 years old) in a given geographical area. A lower index would imply a higher number of dependent people.
Depression Definition A depressed mood and a loss of interest or pleasure are the key symptoms of depression. Depression is highly negatively correlated with quality of life. For example, research has found that police officers with depression have significantly lower quality of life scores across domains on the 12-item Short-Form Health Survey (SF-12) than do police officers without depression.

Diabetes Mellitus Definition A chronic disease associated with elevated levels of sugar in the blood.
