The invitation to present Dermatology in Public Health Environments is certainly among the most honorable in the almost 30 years I devoted to public health dermatology. Having known the organizers for long time, I am sure that, in addition to the search for updated knowledge, high scientific rigor, and careful selection of experienced practicing professionals for writing the chapters, it was a work of love for my fellow beings. Dermatologic conditions are among the most frequent reasons for the seeking health care. They produce suffering, low quality of life, and overburden of services. They also generate direct and indirect high costs. Access to health services is difficult in middle- and low-income countries,
