Lack of efficacy: case report A 28-year-old man exhibited lack of efficacy during treatment with indometacin, diclofenac and naproxen for inflammatory low back pain and bilateral hip pain. The man was hospitalised at the rheumatology department of a hospital in Tunisia with a 10-year history of inflammatory low back pain, which started from his buttocks. He also had bilateral hip pain. His family and medical history were negative. Initially, he had received treatment with NSAIDs as indometacin, diclofenac and naproxen [routes and dosages not stated], which showed no response. Further examination confirmed the diagnosis of axial spondyloarthritis and IgA nephropathy. Subsequently, the man had received treatment with etanercept with a good outcome. Follow-up at 2 years showed persistent efficacy with good tolerance of etanercept. Saidane O, et al.
