Continuing in the footsteps of the four previous International Conferences on Dynamics in Logistics, LDIC 2016 was the fifth event in this series to be held in Bremen (Germany) from February 22 to February 25, 2016, this year in conjunction with the 7th IFAC Conference on Management and Control of Production and Logistics—IFAC MCPL 2016. The LDIC 2016 was accompanied by an Internet of Things (IoT) Workshop as well as by the 1st LogDynamics Summer School (LOGISS) 2016 as satellite events. Similar to its predecessors LDIC 2007, LDIC 2009, LDIC 2012, and LDIC 2014, the Bremen Research Cluster for Dynamics in Logistics (LogDynamics) of the University of Bremen organized the conference in cooperation with the
