E-MRS Announces Summer School on Solidification and Casting of Metals The European Materials Research Society, in cooperation with Ecole des Mines (Nancy, France) and the Royal Institute of Technology (Stockholm, Sweden) will hold an International Summer School on the Solidification and Casting of Metals. The Summer School will be held at the Sanga-Saby Course Center near Stockholm August 29-September 2,1988. The aim of the Summer School is to train researchers from universities, industries, and other institutions to use the new knowledge developed during the last decade for tackling complex problems in the field. An overview for each of the eight topics listed below will precede small group discussions.

3rd BACG PHOTOCHEMICAL PROCESSING WORKSHOP March 24-25,1988 Riccarton campus of Heriot-Watt University Edinburgh, Scotland Sponsored by the British Association for Crystal Growth in association with the Institution of Electrical Engineers, the Institute of Physics, and the Royal Society of Chemistry Applied Solid State Chemistry group. This workshop meeting follows those successfully held at Cambridge in 1985 and at Oxford in 1987. It aims to cover photochemical processes of present or potential application in semiconductor device fabrication. Papers are welcomed on the techniques of light-induced metallization, insulator deposition, etching, photoablation, epitaxial deposition, and their assessment; and on other novel areas involving the direct interaction of light with gases, liquids or solids to produce or modify surface structures.
