depth/specimen thickness ratio for an average crack depth/length ratio experimentally measured to be 0.4. Several sets of growth rate data are given in Figure l and illustrate the slight but distinct trend for growth rate to increase with O'max at fixed AK. Our results for seven values of O'max cannot be conveniently presented in this way. Instead, in Figure 2, we plot as a function of crma~the values of AK required to produce constant growth rates (dc/dN) of 10 -4, 10 -5, and 10 -6 m m per cycle. This summarizes all our results with sufficient resolution to test model predictions. Two data points at O'm~ = 0 were provided by C. G. Annis s6 and were obtained from compact tension specimens of the same alloy. The error bars give the width of the scatter band in the original dc/dN vs AK plot for each trm~x.Light lines in Figure 2 are used to indicate selected loci of constant crack length. ! 9
