Preface

This book presents a collection of 25 contributions presented during the 2nd International Workshop on Advanced Dynamics and Model Based Control of Structures and Machines, which was held at TU Wien in September 2015. It contains 9 full-length papers of presentations from Austria, 7 from Russia, 4 from Japan, 3 from Italy and 2 from Taiwan. The general goal of the workshop was to present and discuss the frontiers in the mechanics of controlled machines and structures. The workshop continued a series of international workshops, the Japan-Austria Joint Workshop on Mechanics and Model Based Control of Smart Materials and Structures, the Russia-Austria Joint Workshop on Advanced Dynamics and Model Based Control of Structures and Machines and the 1st International Workshop on Advanced Dynamics and Model Based Control of Structures and Machines. The first two workshops took place in Linz, Austria, in September 2008 and April 2010, and the third one in St. Petersburg, Russia, in July 2012. The key objective of the workshop was to further
