Although significant progress has been made in the prevention and treatment of HIV, racial and ethnic inequity remains a persistent and pervasive feature of the epidemic in the USA. Published in 2009, HIV/AIDS in U.S. Communities of Color, an in-depth guide to the HIV epidemic among Black and Latino individuals living in the USA, edited by Valerie E. Stone, Bisola O. Ojikutu, M. Keith Rawlings, and Kimberly Y. Smith, provided the first comprehensive guide to the epidemiology, clinical characteristics, and treatment of HIV/AIDS in people of color in the USA. The current text, HIV in US Communities of Color: Second Edition builds upon the previous work by comprehensively updating important epidemiologic and clinical content.
