Ethinylestradiol/norethisterone Decreased libido and hypogonadism in an elderly patient: case report A 68-year-old man with Rendu-Osler disease was referred in December 2003 for management of severe anaemia. Due to disease progression and his increasing need for blood transfusions, ethinylestradiol/ norethisterone 50µg/10mg daily [route not stated] was started in July 2006. His need for blood transfusions began to decrease after 1 month of treatment, but he subsequently reported reduced libido. Laboratory tests revealed hypogonadism, and sildenafil was prescribed [outcome not stated]. Ethinylestradiol/norethisterone was continued until July 2008, when he requested to be switched to octreotide. His condition progressed, and he later died of sepsis due to translocation.
