ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
This volume is the product of a series of conversations at the Department of Social Anthropology at Stockholm University over the role and impact of conferences and trade fairs in various anthropological research fields. In 2014, Mia Forrest, Hege Høyer Leivestad, Anette Nyqvist and Hans Tunestad noted that we, despite our diverse research fields and interests, all conducted parts of our respective ethnographic fieldwork at conferences and trade fairs. As we came together to discuss the presence of largescale professional gatherings in our respective fields, the nature of them, their overlaps and differences, we also began thinking of the possibility of a joint project and an anthology on the topic. We should like to thank all the contributors to the volume for their hard work and fascinating material. We are indebted to the editors at Palgrave Macmillan who already at an early stage believed in this book. Many thanks.
