Lack of efficacy: case report A 2-year-old girl exhibited lack of efficacy while receiving treatment with ethosuximide and zonisamide [dosages and routes not stated] for epilepsy. The girl, who had been diagnosed with epilepsy, started receiving treatment with ethosuximide. Her seizures continued despite treatment with increasing doses of ethosuximide. Thus, the girl’s treatment was changed from ethosuximide to zonisamide; however, her seizures did not improve. Furthermore, valproic acid was added to the therapy. Her seizures significantly improved after initiation of valproic acid. Additionally, clobazam was initiated, which produced further seizure control. Devries S, et al.
