Face Validity Definition Face Validity consists of several considerations. (1) Language clarity and the comprehension of items (i.e. whether items and instructions superficially make sense and are easily understood). (2) Comprehensiveness of response scales and whether they are sufficient to allow individuals to report their experiences. The appropriateness of recall periods with respect to potential bias or errors of memory should also be considered. (3) Subjective opinion of potential responders on the relevance and acceptability of the instrument and items, since this may influence nonresponse in any subsequent application.
