Fluorescein/indocyanine green Bronchial spasm, vomiting, itchy skin and hot flushes: 3 case reports In a single centre, prospective study of 114 patients conducted during the period between January 2015 and November 2017, 3 patients [ages and sexes not stated] were described, who developed bronchial spasm (n=1) and vomiting (n=1) during imaging with fluorescein and itchy skin and hot flushes (n=1) during imaging with indocyanine green for angiography [not all routes and dosages stated]. The patients, who were scheduled for angiography imaging, received IV fluorescein 0.05 mL/kg with sodium chloride (n=1), oral fluorescein 20 mg/kg (n=1) and indocyanine green (n=1). Out of the two patients who underwent fluorescein angiography, the one who received oral fluorescein developed bronchial spasm and the other who received IV fluorescein developed vomiting. The remaining patient who underwent indocyanine green angiography developed itchy skin and hot flushes [outcomes not stated]. Author comment: "One patient (3.8%) [IV fluorescein] had a severe adverse reaction viz. bronchial spasm. " "10% (1/10) of patients had an adverse reaction after oral fluorescein i.e vomiting, and 4.5% (1/22) after ICG [indocyanine green] viz. itchy skin and hot flushes." Marziali E, et al.
