Innovation is paramount to gaining a competitive advantage because innovation creates and captures value. In difficult times like the COVID-19 crisis in 2020, many companies have realized the pressure to innovate. But only a company that can effectively appropriate its innovation can sustain its profitability. In the global competition for innovation, managing intellectual property (IP), especially patents, is becoming much more important than the management of factories. Control over key technologies and innovations
