Introduction
Several summary measures are used to describe the population health but only few capture the disability caused by diseases. The indicator Healthy Life Expectancy (HALE) combine both fatal an non-fatal outcomes in a summary measure that represents the average level of the population health (Mathers et al., 2001, 2006). The characteristics, methodology and current results of the measure are presented in the following pages.
