Imiquimod Chemical conjunctivitis in an elderly patient: case report In a retrospective study*, a 79-year-old man started receiving topical imiquimod five times weekly [dose not stated] for periocular intraepidermal squamous cell carcinoma. Skin irritation and chemical conjunctivitis subsequently developed [time to reaction onset not stated], and his dosage was reduced to twice weekly. Within 2 weeks, his conjunctivitis had resolved. * the authors described four other patients who receiving imiquimod for periocular tumours, but treatment was not associated with adverse drug reactions in these cases.
