Lack of efficacy: 2 case reports In a retrospective analysis of 77 children, who were admitted to a University Hospital in Japan from January 2013 to December 2014, 2 children [sexes and exact ages not stated] were described, who exhibited lack of efficacy during treatment with immune globulin for Kawasaki disease (KD). The patients, who were hospitalised with KD, started receiving treatment with aspirin and IV immune globulin 2 g/kg. However, 2 patients were found to be unresponsive to immune globulin treatment owing to persistent or recurrent pyrexia. These patients received additional doses of immune globulin. Of these 2 patients, the first patient received combined plasma exchange/methylprednisolone pulse therapy, and the second patient was prescribed urinastatin. Muto T, et al.
