Abstract. Digital construction brings great impact and influence to library and it has great importance of strengthening digital construction of the library, the challenge that its face determines the survival and development of library. The article states the importance and features of digital library, analyses its the challenge and inevitability for development, and puts forward the strategy to these challenges. 1 Introduction After 1990's, with the rapid development of computer technology, especially the universal network technology, digital storage and transmission technology, it makes people have the new requirement on the document information about processing, storage, inquires and use, etc. Therefore, the Digital Library (Digital Library, referred to as "DL") comes into being. DL is the complete knowledge positioning system, but also for the future development of the Internet information management. It can be widely used in social culture, life-long education, mass media, business consulting, egovernment, and all other social organizations of the public information transmission.
2 The Significance of the Establishment of the Digital Libraries The development of the modern information technology and the construction of the digital library, which makes the content and form of library have larger changes than traditional library. Comparing with the traditional library, DL is virtually based on the network environment and sharing of the extensible knowledge network system. It also is a large scale, distributed, easy to use, no time limit as well, can be achieved across the library seamless and intelligent search across the knowledge center. Digital library is established with the following important significance. 2.1 Expanding the Range of Collection The networked libraries can be connected to a variety of commercial electronic document supply centers, on-line retrieval centers, electronic magazines centers and all other the Internet network. At the same time, the digital libraries take up the relatively small amount of physical space, due to the large amount of digital information stored in the countless in disk storage. 2.2 Achieving Large-Scale Resource Sharing The digital library is the foundation of the national and global library network. In the digital library under the premise of achieving network, it can truly achieve a wide range of data resources sharing, the higher the level of the network, the greater the range of resource sharing.
