INSTRUCTIONS TO AUTHORS 1. GENERAL STATEMENT 1.1. The international journal Chemistry of Heterocyclic Compounds publishes original papers, letters to the editor, reviews, and mini-reviews dealing with problems in the field of heterocyclic chemistry in Russian and English. The Journal also publishes reviews and annotations on new books and brief reports on conferences in the field of heterocyclic chemistry, as well as commemoratives dedicated to prominent heterocyclic chemists. The manuscript should be concise, thoroughly drawn up, carefully edited by the authors, and contain all the requisite parts. The writing should be clear, the description of the research method should be complete, and the results should be reproducible. The author is fully responsible for the reliability of experimental data presented. 1.2. Original papers of experimental or theoretical character may concern synthesis, structure, and reactions of heterocyclic compounds, as well as their biological activity, physicochemical, and other properties in the context of synthesis. Transformations of substituents in a heterocycle may be considered when their character is specific due to a special effect of the heterocyclic system. The paper must present definitive and comprehensive accounts of previously unpublished research. Research based on analogy (trivial change of substituents or conditions) will not be accepted without demonstration of its special significance. Original papers should not exceed 15 journal pages. 1.3. Letters to the Editor should contain substantially new results or methods of wide applicability or interest, or focused studies requiring establishment and fixation of priority. Only those experimental data and literature references necessary for confirmation of the main conclusion should be presented. In the case of synthesis of known structures by a new method, at least five examples should be presented. Letters to the Editor should not exceed 4 journal pages. 1.4. The topic of a review or mini-review should be submitted for preliminary approval by the Editors in the form of a detailed (1–2 pages) summary. The review or mini-review should cover topics that are of sufficiently general interest for heterocyclic chemists or reflect an important aspect of practical applications of heterocyclic compounds in industry, agriculture, medicine, etc. Reviews should be comprehensive, critical, and readable accounts of the newest research in heterocyclic chemistry. The time period and the scope of the subject area should be clearly defined in the Introduction. Review manuscripts should not exceed 35 journal pages, and mini-reviews – 10 journal pages.
2. MANUSCRIPT EVALUATION The preliminary evaluation of manuscripts as to their fitting the scope of the journal and compliance with the Instructions to Authors is carried out by the Section Editor. All manuscripts compliant with the journal's requirements will be reviewed by two or more referees. Authors can suggest two referees.
