Hypothyroidism: case report A 50-year-old woman developed hypothyroidism during treatment with iodine-radioactive for Graves disease. The woman presented symptoms of hyperthyroidism consisting of palpitations, excess sweating, goiter and fine tremors from 2 months. Her medical records showed a history of similar complaints before 4 years and had received treatment with iodineradioactive [radioiodine] therapy of 8 milliCurie for Graves disease [route not stated]. After 5 months of receiving iodine-radioactive treatment, she became euthyroid. During the transition period, she also received unspecified antithyroid drugs treatment. Serum TSH was measured at 4 to 6 months interval with radioimmunometric assay (0.35–5.0 µIU/mL) along with every 6 month clinical follow-up. After a year of receiving iodine-radioactive therapy, she developed hypothyroidism with TSH titer 12.11 µIU/mL and was on thyroxine replacement. After 3 years of having hypothyroidism, there was a recurrence of Graves hyperthyroidism with TSH
