Hepatic haematoma and abscess: case report A retrospective study of 12 patients (conducted between 2010 and 2016) described one patient [age and sex not stated], who developed grade 3 hepatic haematoma and abscess following image guided high-dose rate interstitial brachytherapy with iridium-192 for gastric adenocarcinoma. Further, the hepatic haematoma and abscess was dealt with transcutaneous drainage and unspecified antibacterials [antibiotics] [route, dosage, and time to reaction onset not stated]. Author comment: "[Iridium-192] is an overall safe procedure; only one of our patients suffered a major local complication (CTCAE grade 3), which was hepatic hematoma and abscess, successfully dealt with by transcutaneous drainage and antibiotics."
