Introduction

Abstract Italy is always presented as a contradictory actor in terms of foreign policy. The chapter addresses this foreign policy conundrum by adopting a new research approach, which mixes the method and research instruments of Political Science (in particular, Foreign Policy Analysis) with the ones of International History. The research objective is to understand the extent to which t
