JOCB BULLETIN

JOCB Bulletin Thanks once again to all our readers who have submitted items for inclusion in this section. Can I remind you that we advertise readers’ items at the interface of the physical and life sciences free of charge including illustrations and colour. Any contributions that might be of interest to researchers in the Chemical Biology field concerning studentships, job vacancies courses or conferences, book reviews or news items would be most welcome. Please send to Dr. CA Rosser 1 North Parade Derby DE1 3BR Email: [email protected]

University of Sussex MSc in Chemical Biology http://www.sussex.ac.uk/chemistry/chembio “The recent exciting findings in chemical biology promise a paradigm shift in medical treatments. There is no doubt that some of the most important new scientific advances are in this field and if I were a student today I would be strongly attracted to this field.” Harry Kroto, University of Sussex, Nobel Prize for Chemistry in 1996 For more information, please contact: School of Life Sciences, University of Sussex, Brighton, BN1 9QG, UK Telephone: +44-1273-678057, or email [email protected]

MSc Chemical Biology and Drug Design

PhD studentships in Chemical Biology Applications are invited for PhD studentships in the Chemical Biology group in the Cardiff School of Chemistry.

The University of Leeds launched the first taught MSc degree in Chemical Biology in the UK. The course was one of the first two MSc courses in the UK to receive accreditation from the Royal Society of Chemistry; graduates from the programme with an appropriate first degree in chemistry satisfy the academic requirements for the award of Chartered Chemist (CChem) status. The University offers some scholarships for Masters students, including the prestigious AstraZeneca Chemical Biology scholarship which covers tuition fees at the UK/ EU level and a tax-free stipend of £6,000.

Interests of group members include: – – – – – – –
