Acknowledgements

The initial idea to make this publication on cultural approaches to civic learning in urban spaces originated during the ECER 2015 conference in Budapest, after an inspiring talk with Natalie from Springer. We are thankful to Natalie and Anneke, and also to all members of Springer who believed in our ideas and guided us towards this publication. Different chapters of this book were written by inspiring colleagues from Germany, Denmark, U.K., Finland and Belgium. Thank you Silke, David, Peter, Keri, Helen, Noora, Ann and Luc, for making this such an interesting journey. We enjoyed our enthusiastic collaboration. The central framework in this edition has been inspired by the teaching experiment ‘storytelling in urban spaces’ at University College Ghent. We are grateful to the department of social work for allowing us to experiment in the student course ‘creative social work’, in particular Griet and Ann for all the support during and after the teaching experiment. We also appreciate
