# International Association of Medical Science Educators 2020
Welcome to the supplement issue of Medical Science Educator dedicated to the 24th Annual Meeting of the International Association of Medical Science Educators. This year, the theme of the conference was “Scaling New Heights: Envisioning the Future of Health Sciences Education.” Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the meeting could not be held in person but took place online on June 15–18, 2020. As per tradition, we present in this annual supplement the abstracts of the posters and oral presentations that were accepted for presentation at the meeting. This year, we only present a selection of the abstracts, as not all presenters with an accepted abstract decided to actual present in the online conference. I am honored to present to you contributions of three of the keynote speakers at the meeting, as we include in this issue short articles from Drs Cynthia Nebel, Maria Mylopoulos, and Poh Sun Goh. In their excellent presentations at the meeting, they shared their valuable thoughts and opinions on the topics of cognitive psychology, cognition, curriculum, adaptive expertise, and the medical educator roles of the future. Through a short commentary in this issue, their valuable messages will also reach the readership of the journal. We also included a

summary of the student-led plenary titled “Envisioning the Future of Health Sciences Education Across Different Healthcare Professions Worldwide”. This session was presented by four students from different health professions schools in North America and Europe. Finally, this issue also highlights the recipients of the 2020 IAMSE career and lifetime achievement awards. I believe that this journal issue is important to review not only for the meeting attendees but also for those readers who were unable to attend the meeting in person. I hope this issue of Medical Science Educator will give all of us a nice overview of the work presented at the IAMSE meeting, and make you consider visiting or contributing to the 2021 Annual Meeting or any other international IAMSE meeting in the future.
