Letters to the Editor I am writing about Brian Shorrock's article, "Easy as

ABC', in OR Insight Vol. 2, No. 1. I wonder if there has been a less than diligent appraisal of this article by the referee.

In a paragraph near the bottom of the first

column of page 13, surely the average number of weeks of stock is 14,5, not 4.5. The author obviously thinks it is 4.5, because he goes on to make a deduction in respect of the value of total stock held. Also, he refers back to the figure of 4.5 two paragraphs later. In this paragraph, his seven would have to be twenty-seven in order to confirm

the correct figure from earlier on.

This would have

ramifications in the contrasts he makes in that paragraph between the ABC and no-ABC approach. BRIAN DANGERFIELD
