Lack of efficacy: case report In a retrospective study conducted from 2013–2018, a boy [exact age not stated] experienced lack of efficacy during treatment with levetiracetam, sodium valproate and topiramate for atypical benign epilepsy. The boy, who had focal and atypical absence seizures, was diagnosed with atypical benign epilepsy with epileptic negative myoclonus and rolandic discharges at the age of 2 years and 9 months. Subsequently, he was treated with sodium valproate [valproate sodium], levetiracetam and topiramate [dosages and routes not stated]. However, no effect was noted on the treatment. Hence, he was treated with clonazepam. At the age of 6 years (at follow-up), he remained seizure free. Yang L, et al.
