Sea sunset This figure shows the dispersion of carbon nanoparticles in liquid xylene under applied magnetic fields. The carbon nanoparticles were synthesized by a solution plasma process using liquid xylene as the carbon precursor at room temperature and atmospheric pressure.

This is a scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of a titanium dioxide thin film grown on indium tin oxide for an organic–inorganic hybrid solar cell. The film was grown by a green synthesis technique at low temperature using a microwave-assisted solvothermal reaction. It cracked into many pieces, as shown here at one of the edges of the film. This SEM image was taken at The University of Texas at Austin.
